HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL FRANCHISE

The Story

In 2005, Disney Channel approached us at KO Creative to design a print campaign for their as yet untitled tween musical. They had a script, which they were calling High School Musical temporarily, a cast of unknowns, and high hopes for a hit. One of my concept sketches, which was inspired by the Elvis '68 Comeback Special, captured the energy and feel that Disney was looking for. In fact, they loved it so much that they decided to keep the working title and they hired a Las Vegas sign maker to build a full-scale title treatment in lights for the photo shoot. The rest, as they say, is history. That campaign was not only hugely successful, it was followed by three sequels plus an upcoming fourth movie, numerous live events, home entertainment packages, CDs and even a non-profit organization!
